What fits

We consider explanatory pieces, careful comparisons, object histories, myth checks and occasion-specific advice, provided each has one distinct subject and a useful point for general readers. Strong pitches name the object or decision at issue, explain why its trade-offs are worth examining and show how the piece will stay within a safe, everyday scope.

Make the case

Include a working title, a short summary, the central idea and the kinds of information you would use to support it. Tell us what the piece would clarify that a sales description usually does not. Disclose relevant interests, product relationships or other circumstances that could affect the reader's understanding.

Keep claims in bounds

We do not seek promotional copy, unsupported product rankings, invented first-hand tests or claims that ask readers to undertake hazardous work. Pitches should be specific, fair to meaningful alternatives and candid about uncertainty. A proposal is not a promise of publication.
